Antoinette Schmitter, 98 of Ridgefield passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021, surrounded by loving family and friends. Antoinette was born January 25, 1923 in Flushing, New York. 

She married her husband Alvin in 1947 and moved to Ridgefield in 1974 when she affectionately became everyone’s “Granny”. Her passion for travel led her to exploring over 52 countries. 

Ann was a fixture in the community. She was a friendly face at various retailers including Grants and Pride Cleaners. After retirement, she continued to be active in the community where she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the CT mobile food pantry. When Antoinette was not volunteering, you could find her playing Bingo at Founder’s Hall or passionately crocheting blankets for charities. Antoinette was predeceased by her loving husband Alvin, daughter Marilyn, son in law John, grandson Scott, and two sisters and brothers. She leaves her granddaughter Allison Costas and husband Christopher, sister Ginger, brother Nicholas, nieces Carole and Janice, nephews Robert and Jesse. and many loving friends in Ridgefield that affectionately called her their “Granny”.
