Anthony Wallace ”Tony” Carpenter, 56, Anderson, died November 19, 2002 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born January 16, 1946 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and resided in Anderson, Indiana. He has lived in this area since 1964.

He previously owned and operated Anthony Carpenter Brick Masonary Company. He was a member of 30th Street Church of God in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He loved to write songs and play his guitar. He loved all God’s little creatures. He was an avid fisherman. He was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather and was a precious beloved son to his mother. The family would like to give a special Thank You to St. John’s Health System Hospice.

He is survived by his Mother: Shirley Daniels Hamilton of Anderson. One Daughter: Rose Marie Mattis of Meridian, Mississippi. Two Sons: David Carpenter of Shelbyville, Tennessee. Anthony Carpenter of Shelbyville, Tennessee. Five Sisters: Shirley F. Finney of Anderson. Flossie Ellen & husband Max Hunt of Franklin, Kentucky. Sue Ella Carpenter of Midletown. Kathy Marie & husband Bud Surface of Alexandria. Norma Bea & husband David Schmink of Camp LeJune, North Carolina. Five Brothers: John William & wife Janice Carpenter of Richmond, Virginia. Estle Paul Carpenter of Indiana. Phillip Thomas Carpenter of Marion. Virgil Casper Carpenter of Indiana. David DeForest & wife Linda Carpenter of Indianapolis. Two Aunts: Mary & husband Sewell Martin of Anderson. Gladys L. Beeler of Paducah, Kentucky. One Uncle: James Lloyd & wife Gwen Rains of Ona Alaska, Washington. Numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Very Special Friend: Lou Wilson. He was preceded in death by his Father: John William Carpenter. One Brother: James Dillard Carpenter. One Sister: Erma Lee Carpenter. Grandparents: Martha Ellen Rains and Frank & Flossie Carpenter. One Brother-in-law: Thomas E. Finney. One Uncle: Virgil Rains.
