Anthony W. Nauman, 96, of Metamora, IL passed away at 9:15 am on Friday, April 1, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family.

He was born on June 7, 1925, in Metamora, IL, to Leonard J. and Margaretha (Noel) Nauman. He married Loretta C. Waldschmidt on June 18, 1949 in Metamora. She passed away on July 12, 2004.

Surviving are his children, Warren Nauman of St. Peters, MO, Gary (Carolyn) Nauman, Gregory Nauman, Kevin (Christina) Nauman, and Kathleen Nauman, all of Metamora, and Rebecca Knoblauch of Champaign, IL; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Daniel Nauman, great-granddaughter Hailey Kline, sisters Lidwena Schierer and Hildegard Grebner, brothers Richard, Lambert, and Clifford Nauman, and half-brother Gilbert Alig.

Tony was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during World War II. Anthony was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers.  He was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Sorrows Council 3060.  Anthony was a life-long member of St. Mary of Lourdes Men’s Club and later also joined St. Mary of Metamora Men’s Club.  He was an American Legion Post 89 member.  He was an active farmer and a life-long member of the Farm Bureau.

Anthony loved gardening and teaching his grandkids to garden and love the outdoors.  He was a hunter and fisherman.  He loved to take his grandkids fishing and mushroom hunting with him.  He always enjoyed time with his family.  Anthony was an avid card player and could always be found with a deck of cards.  He loved playing euchre, canasta, feather, poker, and many others with family and friends.
