Anthony Vito Savino, Command Sergeant Major, USA, Ret., 71, of Margaret Way, Bristol, beloved husband of Deanna E (Urban) Savino, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the Bristol Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Bristol, August 6, 1936, a son of the late Vito F. and Pasqua (Borrelli) Savino, he had been a lifelong Bristol resident. Tony was a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School class of 1954 and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in 1984. He served in the U. S. Army and Connecticut Army National Guard for 40 years. He was a graduate of the United States Sergeants Major Academy in 1987. He was the 43rd Brigade Command Sergeant Major for 10 years, the Connecticut Army National Guard NCO School Commandant/CMS for 1 years and the Connecticut Army National Guard State Command Sergeant Major for 16 years.

He had been employed as Transit Manager for the Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency for several years. He served as a member of the Bristol City Council from April 2005 thru November 2005 and served on numerous Boards and Commissions including, Chairman and member of the Board of Directors for the Bristol Adult Resource Center, Member of the Board of Directors for the Bristol Community Organization, Executive Director of the Bristol Tramps Sports Reunion Committee, a United Way Volunteer, member of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, member and secretary of the Bristol Veterans Council, the Bristol Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1010, the Bristol Kiwanis Club, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, AMVETS and the Italian Social Club. He was a parishioner of St.
