Anthony Wilmot Anthony (Tony) Wilmot, of Sherman, CT and a longtime Ridgefield resident, died on Tuesday, February 18th from influenza related complications. He was 50 years old. At the time of his death, Tony, along with his wife of ten years the former Kristina Traynor, owned and operated The Bar and Grill on 7. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his five year old daughter, Hayden, a twenty year old son from a previous marriage, Travis, as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Travis is a senior at Marlboro College in Vermont. Tony was born at Greenwich Hospital on December 16, 1963, the sixth and last child of Clifford and Jeremy Wilmot, both of whom predeceased him. Soon, he joined the rest of his family at their home on Lake Mamanasco where the family lived until some years later when they moved to 96 Main Street. Tony exhibited many talents at an early age. He was an acclaimed tennis player and an ardent golfer, but it was when he discovered baseball that he’d found the activity at which he would excel and that would consume him for the rest of his life, first as a player, then a coach and always as a passionate promoter of fair play and healthy competition. An early demonstration of his exceptional talent occurred when he pitched a perfect game during his years with Ridgefield Little League. He went on to captain the varsity baseball team at Ridgefield High School, and graduated from there in 1982.
