He was the sixth of seven children. Anthony attended DC schools and graduated from T.C. Williams High School (recently renamed Alexandria City High School).Anthony grew up in Southeast DC. He enjoyed playing with the neighborhood children and his baby brother Steve. He often talked about his mother telling them they had to be in the housebefore the streetlights came on.His parents worked outside of the home and his mother taught him how to cook at a very young age. Cooking became a passion of Anthony’s until his death. He could even make his mother’sfamous hot rolls.He was a child who always respected his elders and loved the Lord. It was his earlier years of lifethat shaped him into the man he had become.Anthony worked at Giant Food more than twenty years, Burns Security for four years andvarious other jobs.He loved playing football, basketball and riding his bike with friends when he was younger. TheDallas Cowboys was his favorite NFL team, and his voice could be heard around the DMV ongame day. He talked about attending the Dallas Cowboys game on Thanksgiving Day withDonna (the love of his life and a Commander’s fan), her cousin Yolanda (also a Cowboy fan)and a few other family members and friends.Anthony’s love for people meant that he never met a stranger. A very thoughtful and lovingperson who was always there for his family and anyone that needed him, whether a shoulder tocry on or just a listening ear.In recent years, although Anthony experienced health challenges, he never complained. He usedother measures to read the Bible and daily Devotions and through it All, his faith in Godremained strong. He often said that “God doesn’t put any more on us than we can bear”.Anthony was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Luvinia Washington; three brothers,Wayne Dennis, Johnny Joe (Punchie) Dennis, and Donald (Duck) Dennis and one sister, SharonWashington.He leaves to cherish his loving memory; his fiancé, Donna Heath; his three brothers, BillyDennis, James “Jimmy” Dennis and Steve Washington; and four sisters-in-law, Diane, Birdell, Patricia and Jeanette. Four godchildren; Aysha, Tiara, Clarence and Marcus; a host of nephews, nieces,cousins and friends.
