Anthony (Tony) Perea, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, teacher and neighbor went to be with the Lord on December 27th, 2020. Those closest to him knew him as Chip, Grandpo Chip, Daddy or Po. He was born in Trinidad Colorado on June 10th, 1944 to Cleo and John Perea. He was one of twelve children. Tony’s aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Trujillo raised him in Pueblo, Colorado since he was an infant. Growing up, he loved to play basketball. He graduated from Pueblo East High School in 1962 with his high-school sweetheart and bride of fifty-seven years, Berni Perea (Garduno). They both remained active on the alumni committee and helped plan the yearly reunions. After high school Tony enlisted in the Air Force, in January of 1963 and got married on May 11th of that same year.
He was well-traveled and loved cruises. He and Berni spent their 50th wedding anniversary with their daughter, son, their spouses and three grandchildren on a cruise to Europe, which became one of his fondest memories. Cities included, Barcelona, Sorrento, Rome, Pompeii and Paris. He has also cruised with his family in Mexico, Bermuda, Hawaii and the Bahamas.
He will be greatly missed by the love of his life, Berni Perea, his son, Dr. Mark (Celine) Perea, daughter, Tonya (John II) Secora, grandsons; Zach (Britt) Secora, Brenden Garcia, Mitch (Bre) Secora, Zarin Secora, A.J. Perea and Donavan Perea, brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, students, neighbors, co-workers, extended family and many great friends
