Anthony S. Leatherwood, 41, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at his home in Newnan surrounded by his family. He was born November 13, 1970 in East Point, GA to Leon & Shelia Foster Leatherwood. Anthony grew up in Riverdale and was a 1989 graduate of Fayette Christian School. He attended Clayton State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Anthony was an active member of Northside Baptist Church where he was the chairman of the board of deacons. As the Executive Director of Gentiva Hospice, he lead the organization with character and determination to see that patients and staff were treated with dignity and care that was without equal. Anthony’s passion for hospice extended further than Gentiva Hospice-he was the 2010-2011 President of the Georgia Hospice & Palliative Care Organization. He is survived by wife, Stephanie Bassett Leatherwood; sons, Gavin Leatherwood & Harrison Leatherwood; parents, Leon & Shelia Leatherwood of Cumming; sister, Ashley Lambert & husband Daniel of Cumming; grandparents, Troy & Marlene Foster of Cumming; uncle, Lamar Foster & wife Debbie of Cumming; mother-in-law & father-in-law, David & Joyce Bassett of Jonesboro; brother-in-law, Alan Bassett of Jonesboro; nephews, Kyle, Kirk, & Kipp Lambert; and numerous cousins.
