On the evening of August 4, 2016, Anthony “Tony” S. Russo passed away surrounded by family at Montgomery Hospice – Casey House in Rockville, MD. At the time of his passing, Tony was 68 years old.
Tony was born September 9, 1947 in Woodbury, NJ. He was the only child of Anthony Joseph and Rose Russo. He leaves his beloved wife of 46 years, Carmen Sanchez Russo; his sons Anthony Scott and his fiancAC.e Shirley, Tommy and his wife Stephanie, Darryl and his wife Ginny; his grandchildren Anthony (AJ), Vincent, Sarah, Tyler, Erin, Tony and Charlotte; numerous nieces and nephews; Audrena Campagna and family.
Tony graduated from Glassboro High School in Glassboro, NJ. He received his degree from the University of New Hampshire. Post College, Tony served in the US Army in the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country, he worked for IBM for 17 years. He went on to become an Executive Vice President with MCI for 15 years. During his time at MCI, he also served as the President of the Data Global Solutions Division. Tony eventually retired as CEO of Blue Ridge Networks. For 2 consecutive years, Tony was named in the Who’s Who of Business Executives. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.
Tony coached all three of his boys through multiple Montgomery County Championships in Football. He was an avid collector. His passions consisted of Model Trains, VintageHome Amusements, and Cars. Tony took great pride in entering his Corvettes in shows – winning the coveted NCRS Triple Crown for his 1964 Corvette.
Tony loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren at the beach in Ocean City, NJ. Tony and Carmen enjoyed traveling the world together. He was an active member of the Church of Saint Patrick, participating in their financial ministries.
