Our mother, Annie Sue Hendrix Griffin, joined Christ on June 27, 2018. Born on February 2, 1921, she was the third and youngest child of Tobaccoville Postmaster, Arthur Braham Hendrix and Sheba Newsom Hendrix.
Family preceding her death include both her brother, Harmon Kelly Hendrix, and sister, Mary Arline Hendrix, nephew, Robert “Bob” Hendrix, nieces, Mary Jo Lawson and Nancy Hendrix Crews, and great, great niece, Sabrina Miller.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Stockton Worth and husband Jeffrey of Winston-Salem, and Melodie Griffin Pugh of Chapel Hill, her grandchildren, Charles Selle, III, “Skip” of St. Petersburg, Fl, Elizabeth Dalton Pugh of Chapel Hill and Griffin Gates Pugh of Atlanta, and nephew, William Arthur Hendrix, “Bud”, of Tobaccoville.
After graduating from Old Richmond, Annie Sue attended Salem College. While there she enjoyed playing Field Hockey. She worked in the business offices of Sears and Roebuck, Duplan, Mother and Daughter Department Store and Big Winston Warehouse all in Winston-Salem.
While presiding over the Mizpah Moravian Church Fellowship in Rural Hall,  she met Renard Dalton Griffin, of King, North Carolina, son of Dr and Mrs Ernest M. Griffin, while attending one of the wonderful lawn suppers at Mizpah. They married on July 12, 1942 and moved into a house beside Renard’s brother, Ralton Griffin. They enjoyed their wonderful neighbors, raised two daughters, played Rook, and attended King Moravian Church.
In the 1950s, Renard started Griffin Insurance; where she later joined him to run the office because of her gifted talent with numbers.

Our mother cared deeply for people and was always interested in them and their families, as well as the mission field of the Moravian Church.

She will lie in state at King Moravian Church, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 3:00 pm. The family will be receiving friends following the service.
