Annie Ruth Kirksey Miller was born on May 4, 1930 in Gilbertown, AL. She was born to the union of the late Prince and Millie Pittman Kirksey. She departed this life on October 2, 2015 at her home in Toxey, AL.
Annie Ruth accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pineville Missionary Baptist Church in Gilbertown, AL where she served as Church Mother, Sunday School Teacher, and Vice President of the Mission Society. She was united in holy matrimony to John D. Miller Sr. on September 27, 1947. To this union five children were born, including their son David Miller, who preceded her in death.
Annie Ruth was a homemaker for many years, and began her career later in life. She worked as a seamstress at Vanity Fair during the 1960s and 1970s, and as a Cafeteria Employee for the Choctaw County Board of Education from the 1980s until her retirement in 1995. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, reading, and was an avid fisherwoman.
Annie Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Prince and Millie Pittman Kirksey, siblings: Ed, Fred, Ted, Earnest, and Leroy Kirksey, grandson-in-law John Davis, Jr., and great grandchildren Quinton and Jai Watters.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband, Deacon John Miller Sr.; four children, Lavon Fail of Huntsville, AL, Alice (David) Lewis of Melvin, AL, John (Anita) Miller, Jr. of Melvin, AL, Linda (Grady) Williams of Jackson, AL, a daughter in-law, Patricia Miller. Also left to treasure her memory are fourteen grandchildren: Erik Fail, Sheneka (Cornelius) Jones Stephanie (Matthew) Trapp, Tracie Hicks, Courtney (Ricky) Banks, Brad (Stephanie) Lewis, Ira (Jennifer) Fail, Leslie (Stacey) Gill, Angela Richardson, Alicia (Chauvon) McFadden, Jason (Laneaka) Miller, Brandi Davis, Demetra (Johnny) Williamson, Arielle (Dexter) Williamson, and twenty six great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Lillie Mae Napier, her brother Jimmy Kirksey, a brother-in-law Arnett (Blondie) Miller, sisters-in-law: Mable McGrew, Margie Tower, Gertrude Jones, Josie Rush, Betty Price, and a host of other relatives, including a special nephew Donald (Fannie) Leverett, whom she loved liked a son.
