Annie Ruth Bethea was born in Dillon, South Carolina on March 25, 1938 and departed this life on July 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her mother (Archie Lee Bethea), father (Rev. James Ingram), step-father (James Bethea), daughter (Carolyn Ann Bethea) and three brothers Willie Lee Bethea, Daniel C. Bethea and James F. Ingram. She moved to High Point, North Carolina in 1967 to help create a better life for her children. She gained employment with Highland Yarn Mill where she worked as a spinner for over thirty years. She joined Temple Memorial Baptist Church in 1970’s where she was a dedicated member until her health started to deteriorate. Annie Ruth loved sewing, making quilts and decorative pillows and making jewelry. She also had a love for collecting clocks and candles.
She leaves to cherish her memories four children: two daughters Mary E. Bruce and Diane Reed of High Point, NC, and two sons and daughter-in-laws Charlie Wayne Bethea (Jacqueline) of Winston-Salem,NC, Sterling Billy Bethea (Linette) of Alabaster, AL. One brother James Archie Bethea (Mary “Bay”) of Dillon, SC, and 4 sisters, Mary Alice Bethea of High Point, NC, Caroline Nunnally (Edward), Shirley Jordan, Lorraine Hawkins of Egg Harbour, NJ. Two sister-in-laws Sylister Florence Bethea of Hamer, SC and Jean Ingram of Absecon, NJ. Six grandchildren: Shanbrya Burns, Samantha Bethea, Cornelius Bruce, Jotham Bethea, Chantelle Bethea and Shania Bethea. Four great grandchildren; Adiysha Bethea, Da’Quezz Welch, Qway’Lynn Marsh and Treshuan Redfern. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
