Mrs. Annie B. Gilbert was born on December 14, 1934 to the late Virginia Roberts in Lisman, Alabama. Annie received her formal education through the Lisman Public School System. In the mid 1960s, Annie moved to New York and settled in the village of Spring Valley, where she met her late husband, Charlie Gilbert.
As a child, Annie accepted Christ as her Savior at Shiloh CME Church in Lisman. In 1968 Annie joined the St. Paul AME Zion Church in Spring Valley and served faithfully for 47 years. She was President of the Deaconess Board for 10 years, a member of the Senior/Mass Choir, WB Gospel Ensemble, Parsonage Committee, and CBF Missionary Society. She was also an early member of the Spring Valley NAACP.
Annie was employed at Consolidated Stamps (Costco industry) in Spring Valley, where she served dutifully for over 25 years.
Annie departed this life on July 13, 2015. She was preceded in death by her loving mother- Virginia Robert, husband- Charlie Gilbert, and brother- Coley Robert. Annie was truly blessed and leaves to cherish her memory: SISTER- Lillian Roberts; NIECES- Jessie Wooten (Cleophus), Mary Thomas, Mammie Johnson, Ruby McClauchlin(Robert), Virginia Roberts, Annie Bakr (Reginald), Gloria Jones (Frank), Diane Hawk (Charles), Margaret Robert; NEPHEWS- Allen Blanks (Maria), Richard Blanks (Mary), Jeffrey Roberts (Diahann), Johnny D Roberts (Johnnie), Benjamin Roberts, Rowe Roberts; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
