Annie Laura Spicer, 91, of Winter Haven, FL passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center.

Born May 26, 1927 to Judge and Nancy Carver Harper in Georgia she moved to Winter Haven in 1957.  She and her late husband, James owned Reeds Grocery and Annie’s Country Kitchen (later known as Nells Diner), as well as owning several rental properties in the S.W. Winter Haven area.

Annie was not the retiring kind. She was a 91 year old woman with a work truck. She carried more tools in that truck than most grown men own. If you didn’t find her painting a house or fixing a plumbing leak she could be found baking a cake or roasting a chicken. You might have driven by Southwest Winter Haven and caught a glimpse of her working at her rental property. She also loved caring for her endless plants and garden at home. After her work day was done she would enjoy cooking a meal for her family and playing with her great grandchildren. She was a devoted “Greatma” incredible woman loved and cherished by so many.

Preceded in death by her husband James S. Spicer, she is survived by:  two daughters, Nancy Merlene Pope and her husband Jim of Winter Haven and Laura Sue Kersey and her husband, Harold of Winter Haven; three grandchildren, Jay Pope, Josh Kersey and Lauren Jones and seven great grandchildren, one of which is her namesake.
