Annette “Babe” Fontana Acquavita, 91, of 451 North High St., East Haven, formerly of 315 Eastern St., New Haven, passed away April 7, 2010 in Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph Acquavita. Mrs. Acquavita was born in New Haven Sept. 30, 1918, daughter of the late Biagio and Mary Ricciuti Fontana. She attended Stone Business College and was employed by Yale University for 14 years prior to her retirement in 1985. Before that, she worked at Union Trust Co. She is survived by a son, Fred (Marie) Acquavita of Hamden; a daughter, Mary (Jesse) Abarca of Denver, CO.; two sisters, Rose Barone of Boca Raton, FL. and Frances Votto of East Haven; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, Frank and Andrew Fontana. She was a gentle woman who loved big earrings and bright colored necklaces. She considered all people to be her friend.
