Annetta Shelton, November 7, 1932 – September 30, 2017.

Mrs. Shelton passed away at her home on September 30, 2017.

Frances Annetta (Wruck) Shelton was born on November 7, 1932 to Sophie (Besler) Wruck and Henry G. Wruck in Damon, Texas. She grew up there and attended school in Damon until her senior year when she transferred to Columbia High School where she graduated in 1949.

She entered Texas Lutheran University in 1949 in the Nursing Degree program and graduated from the University of Texas School of Nursing in Galveston, Texas in 1953. She remained at the University of Texas Medical Branch and worked in the Pediatric Hospital and later in the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic until she moved to Temple in 1958.

In 1956 Annetta married Dr. W.B. Shelton, Jr. and moved to Temple when he began his internship at Scott and White Hospital. They remained in Temple and Dr. Shelton became a partner at Temple Medical Clinic where he practiced until his death in 1998. They moved to Morgans Point Resort in 1982.

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and Elder. She taught Sunday School, was director of Vacation Bible School, and worked with senior and junior high youth. She was an officer in the Women of the Church, sang in the choir and served on many committees. She loved to cook and entertain and had many church functions in her home.

She was active in the PTA and served as an officer and on many committees. She was a Cub Scout leader and a representative for Friday Mountain Boys Camp for 15 years. She was a member of the Bell County Medical Alliance, City Federation of Women’s Club, Cultural Activities Center, Temple Civic Theater, and Floral Arts Garden Club. She enjoyed music and belonged to Community Concert, Central Texas Orchestral Society, and the Performing Arts. She studied art under J. Bryant Reeves at Temple College and later worked for him when he opened his gallery in Salado.

She is survived by her daughter Lori and son-in-law Bradley Smith of Georgetown, her son Mark and daughter-in-law Anne Shelton of Corsicana, son Todd of Austin, and her sister Marion Wruck King.   Also surviving are Mrs. Shelton are six grandchildren, Kristina, Jeffrey, Michael, and Jennifer Smith of Georgetwon and Matthew and Kayla Shelton of Corsicana.
