Anne Thorne Whitford, 61, of Allentown, PA died 27 April 2014 at LifeQuest Nursing Center, Quakertown, PA . Born in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of Mary Whitmell (Bussey) Whitford of Delray Beach, FL and the late John Robert Whitford, Sr. Survivors include her mother; brother John R. Whitford Jr. and wife Corrine of Oak Ridge, TN; sister Martha Helen Whitford of Delray Beach, FL; niece Heidi Mendelson; nephews Ian Mendelson and Garrett Whitford; and cousins Linda Griffin, Stanley Bussey and Barbara Hall. Anne was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and was a trustee of the Thorne-Clark Cemetery, Airlie, NC. Following graduation from Duke University (BA Art History), Anne worked in the insurance industry, including over 25 years as a senior underwriter for Selective Insurance Co. of America. She enjoyed reading, music, art, travel, and was an avid supporter of the Duke Basketball team. Anne had a driving intellect, a big personality, and an even bigger heart. Anne loved and was much loved by family and friends.
