Anne Thrasher Mitchell, age 95, died Thursday, April 2, 2015. Her husband, Colonel Raymond H. Mitchell, USAF, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Macon, Georgia, and grew up in Athens. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Georgia where she was a member and officer of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

Mrs. Mitchell moved to Eglin AFB in 1960 and lived first on base, then at the Mitchell family home in Valparaiso. During that time she was a member of the Eglin Officers Spouses’ Club and the Hurlburt Officers Spouses’ Club.

In 2006, she moved into assisted living in Sandestin.  In 2010 she moved to Plano, Texas, to live with her daughter, Dr. Maryanne Watson, and son-in-law, Tom Watson.  She lived with them until she died.

In retirement Mrs. Mitchell derived great joy from extensive travel. She was an avid reader and known for her love of bridge and clothes.

She is survived by her daughters, Florence Mitchell Walker of Dothan, Alabama; Dr. Maryanne Watson of Plano, Texas; Inez Watson of Avondale Estates, Georgia; and Louise Baldwin of Bedford, Texas.

In addition to her children, she was loved in life and will be remembered and honored in death by eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
