Mrs. Anne Swinney Amerson, 77, of 1829 Blain St., died on Saturday at her residence.
Mrs. Amerson was born March 19, 1934 in Bartow, Georgia to the late Virgil and Carrie M. Swinney. Anne attended Jefferson County High School, Pain University in Augusta, Georgia, and Albany State University where she received a BS Degree in Education. “Sister Amerson”, as she was often called by members of the church, taught school for thirty-three and a half years. During those years of teaching school, she also worked with the children at the local church and the children of our state association. She was very successful in all of her endeavors. Besides teaching school, working with children at church, Anne also accompanied her husband in doing jail ministry.
Additionally to her parents, three brothers, Tommy, Ulysses, and R.V. Swinney preceded her in death.
Left to cherish memories; her loving husband, Rev. Willie H. Amerson; two daughters, Sherry L. Nelson (Alvin), and Cynthia Buffong (Ivor); two sons, Efland H. Amerson (Yolanda), and Carlton B. Amerson; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Johnny E. Swinney; two sisters-in-law, Suie Bell Swinney, and Amy Swinney, many nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.
