Anne (Prendergast) Mitchell, 96, a longtime resident of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2022 in Hampton, CT. She was the loving wife of the late Edward J. Mitchell.
Anne was born in Queens, New York on September 8, 1926, a daughter of the late James and Anne (Gibbons) Prendergast, both from County Mayo, Ireland. Upon graduating from Bryant High School in Queens, NY, Anne embarked on a career as an Administrative Assistant in a NYC Ad agency. After marrying and traveling with her husband throughout Europe, Anne raised her three children. When her husband Ed began his own law firm, Anne became his full time Executive Assistant. They both greatly enjoyed the years working together until Ed’s death in 1983.
A longtime resident of Ridgefield, Anne was a parishioner of St.
Anne is survived by her children, Jane Morrone of Hampton, CT; Edward Mitchell and his wife, Christie, of Ridgefield; and Philip Mitchell of Ridgefield. In addition, Anne is survived by 4 grandchildren, Cara, Kevin, Oona and Stella, as well as her siblings, Nora Crandall and Larry Prendergast. Anne was predeceased by her parents, James and Anne, as well as her husband, Edward, her sister, Helen Hawkinson, and her brother, Jim Prendergast.
