GEORGETOWN – It is with great sadness that we make known the passing of our mother and nana, Anne Marie Tomarchio, 90, of Georgetown, MA. Anne passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. A lifelong resident of the Merrimack Valley, Anne was born on July 15, 1932, in Arlington, MA to Augustine and Margaret (Carmody) Furtado, Anne “Mom/Nana/Nonnie” enjoyed a long life and 56 years of marriage to her husband Philip, who predeceased her in 2020. Anne attended St. Augustine’s School in Andover, MA, and St. Mary’s High School, in Lawrence, MA.
Anne was devoted to her family and to her “girls” which mattered most to her.
The family teased her regularly about being a “Jeopardy” candidate, but we were all secretly proud of her keen intelligence and knowledge of history. To say that Anne was an enthusiastic sports fan is a major understatement. During her early years it was all about Boston hockey, with fun nights spent watching a game. We were sure to avoid “the Look” which was all is took to remind us not to behave like the hockey fans we were. As much as she adored her family, and as the Matriarch, she had no problem with delivering “the Look,” which stopped all in their tracks. We all loved her for it because her love for us was felt every day in many ways. For the past few decades, Anne was passionate about football, and of course about a certain quarterback, who she supported as if he were her favorite son. Anne also was a lover of country music and was fortunate to spend time with the members of the band Alabama on more than one occasion.
In the past, Anne served on the Board of the Senior’s Community in which she lived for 34 years and was fortunate to have made many friends there. We are grateful to this supportive community.
Anne is survived by her three daughters Kathleen J. Godin and husband Kenneth, Cynthia A.
