Love her but leave her wild. –Atticus Anne Elise Renee Gibson, age 21, known to her family and close friends as Annie, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family June 25, 2017 from injuries sustained as a passenger in a head-on car collision in Littleton, CO. Annie, beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin and loyal friend was born April 24, 1996 in Denver, CO and grew up in Centennial. Outgoing, adventurous, fearless, independent and fierce – Annie lived her life in the moment and shared her enormous, compassionate heart with all who met her- human and animal alike. An ‘old soul’, she viewed the world with an open mind and non-conformist views. Annie saw things differently than most and used her gift of words to share her perspective with her friends and family, encouraging them to ‘color outside the lines’ and design a life they loved. She had a profound love for her family, and always said that she loved them to the moon and back, no ties. She was passionate about the earth and especially animals. From a very young age, she fostered and adopted a range of species including, fish, hamsters, hermit crabs, lizards, snakes, rats, birds and dogs. Three years ago, Annie adopted Daisy, a puggle puppy who became her ultimate companion and the two were inseparable. Annie was a strong advocate of the medical benefits of cannabis. Her future plans included getting a dual degree in business and agriculture with the eventual goal of opening a cannabis grow and dispensary. She also hoped to work with nonprofits to educate the public about the misconceptions regarding the plant and help campaigns to federally legalize it. She had a modern, urban, vintage sense of style and was the ultimate shopping buddy- never one to hold back her opinion. Annie was an avid reader and kept a journal most of her life filled with her poems, thoughts and drawings. She loved music and found solace with almost every genre, however she had a soft spot for Linda Ronstadt, whom she and her sister were raised listening to. Anne Elise is survived by her mother, Mary Beth Gibson, her father, Brad Gibson and her sister, Emily Gibson. She also leaves behind her stepmother, Rhonda Lange, her birth mother Jennifer Spincken, birth grandmother Susan Spincken, numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins, dear friends, her boyfriend, and dog Daisy. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Betty Huskey and her paternal grandparents, Henry Clay and Arlene Gibson.
