Vernoski, Anne E. (nee: Burawski), 85, of Eatontown, formerly of Lake Hopatcong for 45 years, passed away Friday, September 30th. Beloved wife of the late George A. Vernoski who predeceased her in 2000. Loving mother of Susan, George and Paul  and his wife Barbara Vernoski. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Kristen, Sarah, Hannah, Rachel, Emily and Jacob and great-grandmother of Laila. She is survived her brother, Leo Burawski and predeceased by her siblings Edward, Emily, Helen, Theresa, Francis, Joseph, Stanley, Bernard and Dorothy. Born and raised in Wilkes Barre, PA, she was the 9th of 12 children born to Frank and Anna Burawski. Upon her marriage to George, Anne settled in Lake Hopatcong to raise their children.

Afterwards, Anne took on a flourishing career as a social cashier at the Pathmark in Lake Hopatcong. For 29 years, she had a loyal following who wanted to use her check-out lane as she greeted everyone with a cheerful smile, shared coupons and jokes and was the life of the Pathmark family parties. A former communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church in Lake Hopatcong, she was a lector and held various leadership positions with the Catholic Daughters and Rosary Society. In her later years, she joined St. Dorothea’s in Eatontown. Anne will always be remembered for her vivacious sense of humor and quick wit. The sounds of her songs will echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her beloved children will carry on the legacy of her creativity, compassion and generosity.
