Alice Anne Blakesley Parry has ‘gone to glory.’ Born May 4, 1946, she left this world on February 13th, 2022, with two bum shoulders, gnarled fingers, and bad knees. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family, smiling and dreaming of a walk in heavenly fields with red patent leather high heels and all her favorite dogs.

Grandma Annie loved to feed squirrels in the yard. She was nutty and kind. She loved cherry cordials, clean floors and root beer floats for breakfast. She wrote in cursive with a softness and care that she wanted to share with all. Annie was in many ways like the $2 bills she sent out for birthdays, special and different, but not too fancy to spend on a box of Good n’ Plenty.

Anne was many things to this world – daughter, mother, sister, spouse and friend. More than anything else, though, Alice Anne Parry is kindness and love. She is charity embodied in an angelic form perhaps not made for our world with rough edges. She lived nobly with pain and hard things. Generous through it all, Anne has left us all here with memories that make us smile and laugh out loud or at times to just bask in the warm afternoon sun of moments by her side.

The world will surely be a poorer place without Annie. But heaven has become richer and more fun. I am sure I am not alone in hoping they do not let her drive on celestial roads (some things may not be fixable even with the resurrection). But just for her, we imagine heaven will enjoy orange sticks all year round. If not, we will toast her ourselves with a box this year, and maybe more hugs, more laughs, and more love to celebrate the life she has given us.

Anne was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leonal A. Blakesley and Alice M. Blakesley. She grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake City. She was married to her first husband, Dennis L. Mangrum, with whom she had six kids. She later married Richard T. Parry with whom she shared many happy years.

Anne is survived by her loving daughter, Nichole (Dewey) Jones, daughter, Brooke (David) Henze, son, Shane (Kaylene) Mangrum, son, Travis (Allison) Mangrum, son, Michah (Natalie) Mangrum, daughter, Bryn (Jeffrey) Katseanes, brother, Christopher (Suzy) Blakesley, brother, Jim (Jane) Blakesley, sister, Cathie (Scott) Davis; 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Tenny Parry, mother, Alice Blakesley, and father, Leonal Blakesley.
