AnnaBelle VonFeldt passed away on Friday July 19, 2019 in her home surrounded by her family. Despite her humble and fragile beginnings AnnaBelle proved throughout her life to be a resilient, tenacious, and formidable woman. AnnaBelle’s beginnings are shrouded in mystery. She was believed to be born on December 17, 1926 in Port Neches, Texas, those records are lost to history. She was one of seven children born to sharecroppers, Mortimer and Melina Saunders. In her youth she enjoyed playing softball and attending her school’s sports events. She was working as a car hop when she had a chance encounter on the road when a Navy sailor lent his help and fixed her car. He was instantly struck by her beauty but AnnaBelle was not initially won over. It was only when Al left his contact information for AnnaBelle with instructions to reach out to him, if interested, that she considered Al to be a man she might be willing to let court her. It was not long after that she knew Al would be her forever love and they married on May 6, 1944.
