Anna S. Hess Riedel, 102, of Pendleton passed away March 14, 2013 at St. Vincent hospital in Anderson, Indiana following a sudden illness.

Anna was born August 26, 1910 in Hessen, Germany. She and her husband Karl Riedel immigrated to Sandusky, Ohio through Ellis Island in 1933. Her life’s work was supporting her husband, an architect, contractor and small business owner. She lived in Sandusky until moving to Pendleton in 1997 following the death of her husband and son.

She is survived by her grandson, Karl-Heinz Diane Riedel III of Huron, Ohio; granddaughters, Tanya Kevin Weston of Pendleton, and Heidi Riedel of Sandusky; one great-grandson; four great-granddaughters; two step-great-grandsons; two great-great grandsons; and two great-great granddaughters. Her life is also celebrated by her extended family through Tanya’s marriage – members of the Weston and Perkins family.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Riedel, in 1996 and son, Karl-Heinz Riedel, in 1997. She will be greatly missed by the many members of her family and the friends whose life she touched over her long life with her gentle strength and compassion.
