Anna Mary (Sandler) Turley peacefully passed away December 20, 2019. Her daughter Sandy was with her at the end as were many of her old friends and family who had gone before her.
Anna Mary was born in Prescott, Arizona on May 17, 1928 to Gilbert and Carolyn Sandler; she had three brothers. She graduated from Prescott High in 1946 where she lettered on the archery team. She worked for the National Bank then Prescott High School until her marriage on January 3, 1949 to Keith Turley.
Anna and Keith spent over 20 years living all over Arizona in mostly small towns (or no towns) while Keith built highways in remote locations. During this time, she brought 4 kids into this world and raised them with a good dose of discipline, when needed, and always with lots of love. They settled in Camp Verde in 1970. When assisted living was needed, they moved to Cottonwood for a few years and then to Flagstaff where she stayed until her passing at Acacia Luxury Living.
During her lifetime, Anna managed to spread her joy of life to all who knew her, and even those who didn’t. She could find fun and interesting activities to occupy free time in places that many would find to be isolated and dull. She might rent a hall and a juke box to get all the construction folk together for a dance or arrange a weekend campout for the family or put together a company picnic at a pretty spot in the middle of nowhere. Anna put more living into her 91 years than most pack into 150.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Keith, her son-in-law Ted Wytroval, and her grandson, Derek O’Grady. She is survived by her children: Richard (Barbara) of Scottsdale, Arizona; Randall (Kelly) of Roseburg, Oregon; Susan (Bob) Shamhart of Pine, Arizona, and Sandy (Andy) Wytroval of Flagstaff, Arizona, along with 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and soon to be the first great, great grandchild.
