Anna May Prendergast Gerdes, a native of New Orleans, peacefully passed away at the age of 96, on Saturday April 9, 2016. Beloved and devoted wife of the late Norman Charles Gerdes for 62 years.
Dearest mother to her four girls-Patricia Ann DeGrado, Iris May Pierce, Norma Rose (Traina) Bilello and Charlene Fay Swift.

Great grandmother of Alyssa Renee Constant, Cullen Adley Morvant, Tyler Charles Morvant, Payton Scott Morvant, Sarah Margaret Jones, Ann Michelle Jones, also baby Patterson & baby Swift on the way. When given the news, in her words she responded, “I’m becoming richer in great grandchildren”.
Anna May was the daughter of the late Anna Barbara Heinrich Prendergast and Patrick Joseph Prendergast, Sr.
Sister to the late Ethel Christina Netto, Sr. (Earl), Patrick Miles Prendergast, (Anna), Edward Harold Prendergast, Harold Aloysis Pendergast, Sr. and Joseph Patrick Prendergast.
Beloved Aunt of Harold A. Pendergast, Jr., Margaret Adolph Pendergast, E. J. Netto, Jr. and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Beloved cousin of the late Rita P. Gagliano.
When her Irish eyes were smiling she filled our hearts with laughter; her love of life was huge. She was a great cook specializing in holiday meals. She made the best shrimp mirliton stuffings in the world- no pot luck when she was in the kitchen!
Her parting has left such great sorrow – life will never be the same without her.
