Anna Leona Adkins, age 100, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, (formerly of Shelby), passed away October 24, 2020 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

Anna was born October 10, 1920 to Leonard L. and Margaret H. (Klimm) Austin at Manley, Nebraska. She attended school in Plattsmouth graduating high school in 1939. She worked for a short time as a housekeeper for Mrs. Robinson in Plattsmouth.
She was united in marriage August 30, 1940 to Sherman Lee Adkins at Sidney, Iowa. To this union three sons were born. She was a homemaker until the boys started school when she ran the Tasty Shop Cafe in Plattsmouth. She then worked at the Gamble’s store for seven years. In 1968 she and her husband bought an acreage and moved to Shelby. She worked as a cook at Augustine Ranch, Bernt’s Cafe and the Shelby Hotel. Sherman passed away July 15, 1991. Anna continued living in Shelby until moving to Stromsburg December 2, 2009 where she resided until her passing.
She enjoyed dancing and traveling with her wonderful husband. Her family was everything to her and she liked to cook for everyone.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shelby, Shelby Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother.
Survivors include two sons: John Adkins of Shelby, Sherman Jr. (Rita) Adkins of Omaha; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sherman; one son Ronald ‘Corky’; three sisters Fannie Kennedy, Margaret Henry, and Viola Smith; and one brother Leonard Austin.
