Anna Lee (Harden) McGee
Some losses are expected, but yet we’re still unprepared. Anna Lee was able to ignite an energy inside others that sparked anywhere from competitiveness to pure comfort; she believed you could do anything. She believed it, so it had to be true. That is just the way it was. She left an impression on you — that is undeniable — a force that demanded your attention.
She started life in Sioux City, Iowa then moved with her family to Omaha, Nebraska. In Omaha, she met Jim McGee her high school sweetheart; who gave her the nickname Candy. When Jim enlisted, Anna Lee ventured out to Portland, Maine where they were married on July 27th, 1951.
After becoming empty nesters, they once again found their roots in Colorado calling. This time to Woodland Park, Colorado. In Woodland, Anna Lee opened a yarn store where she enjoyed nurturing other’s passions for crafting. After the yarn store, she kept busy as a City Councilor, cross-country skiing; and the many walks around town with Jim.
Her biggest joy and greatest treasure, was of course, the grandkids; Nicki, Dani, Kelly, Leslie, Hannah and Alex. After that came the even greater love with great grandkids – life was complete.
Next Jim and Anna Lee moved to Fort Collins, then on to Loveland and finally Colorado Springs.
