Anna “Helen” Oettle, 90, of Meredosia, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Jacksonville.

She was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Kampsville, the daughter of Karl J. and Wilhemina Schumann Gerecke. She married Donald Oettle on Oct. 25, 1943, in Mt. Sterling and he preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2002.

She is survived by five children, Mary Margaret Oettle, Ronald Eugene Oettle, Patty Ann Oettle and Chris Edward Oettle, all of Meredosia, and Noel Gene Oettle of Aurora; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; and two brothers, Harry (Margaret) Gerecke Sr. and Norman (Emma Ray) Gerecke, both of Meredosia. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Marie Oettle; two sisters, Irene Rodgers and Eva Rosa; and two brothers, Roy and Marvin Gerecke.

Mrs. Oettle had worked for Lathrop Red & White Grocery in Meredosia, and then cooked for the Meredosia School District until retirement.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Helen liked to garden and bake, and especially enjoyed her grand-kids and great-grandson.
