ANNA G. ANLLO Anna Ganczarski Anllo departed this life peacefully at the age of 104 on Saturday, August 18, 2012, a day overflowing with brilliant blue sky and bird song, which delighted her throughout her life. Born March 21, 1908, to Polish immigrant parents George and Anna Ganczarski, Anna was the fourth of nine children. She enjoyed an idyllic childhood in Mayfield, Pennsylvania, a place she always held close to her heart and which remained a tangible source of storytelling, joy, and comfort for her until her final days. Her Polish-American upbringing permeated her cooking and her holiday traditions, which her family continues to honor and embrace, while still attempting to replicate her one-of-a-kind rice pudding. In her 20s, Anna moved to New York City, where she held several different jobs. At Eagle Pencil Company, her supervisor was Manuel Anllo. Anna and Manuel wed on December 26, 1934, in Manhattan, where they raised three children. Anna and Manuel, who pre-deceased Anna in 1987, moved to Danbury in 1969.
