Anna went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 9, 2017. Age 94. She was born on June 9, 1922 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of loving parents, John and Grace (Rozema) Dornbush. In her youth she was an honor student in the Portage Schools.
Her ambition was to be highly educated, but she stayed home to care for her parents and later her beloved brother. She was taught much from her teacher and father. Anna was proud of her firm Dutch heritage. She spoke the Groninger dialect frequently. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jacoba Sluys; her beloved brother, Anno Maring; a niece, Harmina Terpstra; her lifelong friend, Ann Posthumus; her school friend, Eunice Bryan Cherry of Seabrook, TX.
She is survived by two nieces, Martha Kiel and Grace Cook; her friends, Helen “Toots” Nelson and family; the Posthumus family; her loyal neighbors, Dave and Sue Green, who treated Anna like family; Nancy and Norma Smith of St. Ignace; her friend, Eleanor Batts; three grandchildren, Rachel (Brian Netzler) Green, Jennifer (Charlie) Stuerebaut and Sonya (Timothy) Ratliff; and three great grandchildren, Nolan, Caden and Charlee.
