Mrs. Ann Shew Stocking, 81, of Newnan, GA, and Scottsdale, AZ, passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. She was born Aug. 15, 1939, in Wyatt, MO, to the late Elmer Leroy Shew and Eunice Vowels Shew. Ann grew up in Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in education. For many years she was a fourth grade elementary school educator. Ann fell in love with Roy John Stocking, Jr. of Charleston, MO, in the eighth grade and they married on Dec. 28, 1961. She was a proud military wife who served her country well as a Marine Corps spouse. After many years of duty stations around the country, she and Roy retired in Yuma, AZ. In 2001 they moved to Lake Mitchell, AL, where they enjoyed many years of fun on the water with family and friends from around the country. Two years ago they moved to Newnan and they found their church home at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. They split their time between Newnan and Scottsdale. Ann had a lively spirit and many interests. She enjoyed gardening and was a certified Master Gardener in Arizona and Alabama. She loved anything to do with Great Britain including movies, books and BBC television, and she toured England several times. She adored her dogs and most recently had two Norwich terriers that she doted on. She liked to travel and saw many parts of the world. She enjoyed reading mysteries, music, sewing and crafts projects, her PEO and 4-H clubs, games and happy hour with family and friends. But above all, she loved her family fiercely. Survivors include her husband of nearly 59 years, Lt. Col. Roy J. Stocking, Jr., USMC, Retired; daughters Melissa Ann Lagomarsino (Lou), Melinda Royal Cochran (Mark), Sydney Carole Ling (Andrew), and Maggie Ann Heatherman (Tim); sister Donna Acreback; brother Alan Shew (d.); grandchildren Steven Cochran (Kristyn), Austin Lagomarsino (Jessica), Tyler Lagomarsino, Zachary Cochran (Lexis), Bo Heatherman, Jack Heatherman, Angus Heatherman, Andrew Ling and Lucy Ling; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
