Ann Cecile (Leuzinger) Christianson, 88, of Idaho Falls passed away Monday, January 23 in her home.
She was born September 4, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the long-awaited daughter, of Alvin Otto and Esther (Erickson) Leuzinger. Ann grew up in the Minneapolis area and graduated from Central High School before receiving her BA degree from the University of Minnesota. She taught high school in western Minnesota before returning to the University of Minnesota to complete her MA degree. Ann enjoyed walking, reading, especially non-fiction, and gardening, especially cacti. Ann married her husband of 52 years, George Christianson, on September 27, 1947. Early in their marriage, she encouraged George to complete a PhD in Biochemistry. Ann valued being an at-home mom and supporting her husband. In that role, she was a key catalyst that led to numerous food-related patent awards for George. Their family lived in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Wayzata, Minnesota, and Waterloo, Iowa. After retirement, Ann and George traveled to Zambia, Egypt, Tunisia, and Hungary. During these trips, George volunteered his technical skills and Ann worked with children. Ann moved to Idaho Falls in 2001 after her husband’s death.
