Ann L. Armstrong, 87, of Jacksonville, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Quincy, the daughter of Gilbert and Marjorie Gaus Ryan. She married Everett S. Armstrong Jr. on Nov. 20, 1948, in Troy, MO, and he preceded her in death on Apr. 4, 2010.

She is survived by two daughters and three sons, Caroline Bartz of Murrayville, Robert (Rhonda) Armstrong of Huntsville, David Armstrong of Jacksonville, Aileen Klein of Ennis, MT, and Paul (Debbie) Armstrong of New Berlin; twelve grandchildren, Phil Bartz and Todd (Hope) Bartz, both of Murrayville, Kristy (Kendall) Bollin of Bowen, J.R. (Ali) Armstrong of La Prairie, Betsy (Joe) Hutchison of Jacksonville, Katie (Brian) Mailey of Dallas, TX, Millie (Jon) Braxton of Bozeman, MT, Tiffany (Brian) Stoller of Palisade, NE, Jeff (Betty) Klein of Ennis, MT, Rachel (Jeff) Wright of Rockbridge, Luke (Katie) Armstrong of Pleasant Plains and Evan (Katie) Armstrong of Jacksonville; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Becky Bartz and Lisa Armstrong.

Mrs. Armstrong was a 1944 graduate of Canton (MO) High School. She then graduated from Blessing Hospital Nursing School in Quincy, becoming a Registered Nurse. She worked as an R.N. at Passavant Area Hospital for many years, retiring in 1981. Over the years, she had also been very involved with the family farm. Ann had been a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
