Ann Elora Smekrud, age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away, Friday, July 22, 2022 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital.
Ann was born on March 24, 1937 in Sidney, Nebraska to William and Elanor (Crane) Reddel. She grew up in Nebraska, Wyoming and Iowa. She was confirmed at Immanuel Church near Readlyn, Iowa. She graduated from Readlyn High School in 1955 and received her teaching degree at Concordia University, St. Paul, Minnesota.
Ann married Harvey Smekrud in 1963 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They enjoyed 47 years together and were blessed with three children. Ann taught elementary grades in Lutheran Schools in Williamsburg, Iowa, Milwaukee and Wisconsin Rapids. She retired from teaching just before the birth of their first child.
She is survived by her children: Jon (Pam) Smekrud of Hampshire, IL, Mark (Amy) LaGrange, KY; son-in-law Manson Morris of Minocqua, WI; grandchildren: Adam and Ryan Smekrud, Erin, Kacey, and Megan Smekrud and Ben and Kara Morris.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, daughter Heidi, parents and brother Robert.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or School.
