SALEM – Ann C. Yanek, age 91, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Salem East (formerly Essex III). She was born January 3, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Mlinarchik) Kicko.
Ann attended Salem High School and had worked 18 years in the dietary department at the Salem City Hospital. She was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and the Ladies Slovak Club.
Her husband, Michael A. Yanek, whom she married June 23, 1945, preceded her in death on November 10, 2013. Three sisters, Mary Thomas, Margaret Kicko and Helen Yanek also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen (Roger) Weikart and Mary Jane (Richard) Pieren, both of Salem; a sister, Josephine Kataro of Salem; four grandchildren, Michelle Weikart, Michael Weikart, Lori Tungate and Richard Pieren Jr., all of Salem; eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
