Anita (Heetmann) Montuori, of Highland Beach, FL, formerly of Fairfield, beloved wife of John Montuori, passed away peacefully February 4, 2022. Born on August 17, 1935 in South Hampton, NY to Paul and Elsa (Goldnick) Heetmann, she moved to Fairfield, CT in 1943 and attended the original Timothy Dwight Elementary School and Roger Ludlowe High School. 

 

Anita received a BA degree in Music Education from Syracuse University, a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Columbia University and a Sixth-Year degree from the University of Bridgeport. 

 

She was an avid skier, tennis player and equestrian.  Anita met her husband of 55 years, John, while they were both members of the Fairfield Skifarers.

 

Anita taught music in the New Canaan School System for 12 years; then opened her own piano studio for children and adults.  She got great satisfaction from teaching young children to play piano in pairs.  Her goal was to create an environment where children could enjoy music, whether they wanted to become performers or for their own personal enjoyment. Anita continued teaching until moving to Florida in 2003.

 

During her retirement, Anita became very active, serving on several different Condo Committees, organized Aqua Aerobics, Yoga classes and took daily beach walks in search of rare seashells.  Throughout her retirement years, Anita and husband John, traveled extensively throughout North America and many trips to Europe.

 

 

Anita and John had two sons, Michael and Richard.

 

Anita was predeceased by her mother, father and brother, Paul.  She is survived by her husband John; sons Michael and Susan Montuori, and Richard Montuori; grandson Christian; sister-in-law Margaret Heetmann; nephew Jim Heetmann and niece Elizabeth (Heetmann) DeSantis.
