Anita E. Cage

Anita Eaglin Cage, 80, died on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Touro Hospital after a long illness. She was native of Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Clardy L. and Esther M. (Hix) Eaglin. She spent some time as a young woman working as a model and secretary in New York before retuning to the Memphis area where she married and started a family in nearby Turrell, Arkansas. She was the owner of The Book Rack in Memphis in the 1970s when she decided to continue her education, entering Memphis State University (now University of Memphis) at the age of 41. She earned her BA in Philosophy and Greek in 1980, summa cum laude with University honors. She moved to New Orleans in 1982 to be near her son and worked for a number of years as a vice-president with the Louisiana Corporate Credit Union. In 1991 she was employed by Loyola University, where she was a well-known and much-respected figure at the J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library, serving as Assistant to the Dean of Libraries until her retirement in 2008.
