Anie Ruth Riner Sparks, 80, Anderson, passed away peacefully at home after a battle with cancer on November 5, 2008.

She was born April 11, 1928 in Wise County, Virginia, but was raised in Kinsport, Tennessee. Ruth moved to this area in 1951. She retired from Community Hospital in Anderson as a laundress. She was a devout member of the Free Will Baptist Church and a faithful christian. She loved gardening and was a former member of the VFW. Ruth was a friend to all and never met a stranger. She helped everyone that needed help. Ruth was most proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Earl Sparks; three children, JoAnn Sparks Gates of Anderson, Dale & wife Jane Sparks of Marion and Brenda Sparks Lawson & husband Lawrence of Pendleton; sister, Sally Elizabeth Riner Crenshaw & husband Bill of Chucky, Tennessee; three grandchildren, John Anderson III, Ronald Lee Anderson and Melissa & husband John Bowen; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Linda & Sam Watson, Bill & Carolyn Laswell, Odell Clark and Mae Dean.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack & Mary Leile Nickles Riner; five sisters and three brothers; grandson, Dale Sparks, Jr; lifelong friends, Gladys Lawson and Libby Fisher and cousin, Gerald Sparks.
