Mrs. Angelina Karajanis Pappas, 78, of Hamden passed away March 10, 2014 in Yale New Haven Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving and devoted wife of Steve (Papaioannou) Pappas for the past 53 years. Born in New Haven on Nov. 19, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Kremasotis and Catherine Gelagotis Karajanis. She attended Welch School, Troup Jr. High School and graduated from Hillhouse High School, Class of 1953. She attended St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox School in New Haven as a young student learning to read and write in Greek, her parents’ native language. Ange was an avid reader of novels and loved to share her favorites with relatives and friends. She enjoyed her trips to the library in Hamden and greatly appreciated the help of the librarians. Some of her favorite memories to share were stories of her summer days spent at Lighthouse Park swimming, riding the Carousel and taking the trolley car ride home in the evening.
