— Angelina Jean “Chickie” Trotta died on July 30th due to complications from pneumonia; secondary cause was a broken heart, as Chickie died just seven months after losing her beloved husband Salvatore Trotta earlier this year.
Chickie’s warmth, kindness and generosity of spirit were felt by all whose lives she touched. Her home was a place of peace, and all were welcome. She leaves a large family and circle of friends, many of whom she guided towards a relationship with God through her own tremendous faith and by her example of living a truly Christian life. She is survived by children Beth, David (Cynthia), Jim and Laurie (Miguel) Valenti. Grandmother to Katie, David and Ian, and sister to Vincent and John Cacace (predeceased), a wealth of cousins, nieces and nephews and many neighbors and friends.
Jean was born April 27, 1930 to Elizabeth Stanio Tausta and Frank Tausta. Her mother was a businesswoman and one of the first female butchers in the 1920s. The family owned Betty’s Market at 475 Townsend Avenue, which served Morris Cove residents for some 60 years, from the Great Depression to the 1990s. Jean attended Hospital of St. Raphael School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Jean and Sal married in 1953 in St.
