Angela Salerno – devoted friend, cousin, mother, and grandmother, passed away suddenly on September 28 at the age of 79.

She was born to John and Marie Scalisi, a family with deep Sicilian roots, in East Harlem, NY on April 20, 1943. She and her sister Nanette (who died in 1993) were blessed to be surrounded by laughter, love, and lots and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins throughout their childhood. In 1967, Angela married Matthew Salerno and together they had four children – Carl, Christine, Matthew, and Angela. After losing her husband of nearly 20 years, Angela raised all four children on her own – providing a loving home, happy Christmases, and memorable travel adventures.

Her love of travel continued throughout her life, taking her from Italy, Morocco, Turkey, Italy, Croatia, France, Ireland, Italy, more Italy… and everything in between with her closest friends and family.

But nothing brought her more joy than filling her home with music, loved ones, and heaping plates of her famous pasta; she hosted Sunday dinners for well over three decades for anyone and everyone she loved.

In addition to her children, Angela’s memory will live on through her five devoted grandchildren – Marina, Mia, Matthew, Lily, and Eva.
