Angelina Rosalie Cummings (Petrongolo) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 17, 2023. Born on August 2, 1925, in Philadelphia, PA, Angelina was the cherished daughter of Francis and Emilia Petrongolo. She grew up on Ritner Street in South Philadelphia, where she enjoyed living very close to her grandparents and many special cousins.
A woman of strong determination and dedication, Angelina graduated from Hallahan High School in 1944, setting the stage for a life filled with accomplishments and contributions. In 1946, she married the love of her life and United States Marine, Richard Cummings, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of 47 years.
Angelina was an integral part of the Wells Fargo Bank family, serving as a secretary for 30 years. Her commitment to her work and colleagues made her a beloved member of the team and was a place where she made life-long friends!
Outside of her professional life, Angelina was deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of the Junior Woman’s club in Yeadon and found great joy in being a girl scout leader, mentoring and guiding the young girls under her care.
Her thirst for knowledge and personal growth was evident throughout her life. Angelina sought to expand her horizons by taking classes on Italian, opera, and writing, exemplifying a lifelong love of learning.
Angelina’s vibrant spirit was contagious, as she always had a radiant smile on her face and loved to dance, spreading joy to those around her. She had a warm and caring heart, and her highest priority was taking care of her family and living out her faith. Her Sunday dinners were a cherished tradition, where she delighted everyone with her homemade pasta, meatballs and gravy, her beautiful home brought people together creating lasting memories and cherished moments for generations to come.
Her family was the center of her world, and she never missed her grandchildren’s special activities, showing unwavering support and love in every aspect of their lives. To Angelina, family was everything, and she lovingly referred to her efforts to care for her mother, father, and extended family as “family volunteer work.”
Deeply rooted in her faith, Angelina was a guiding light, teaching her family the importance of prayer and the value of having faith in God. She instilled in them the significance of the rosary, fostering spiritual connection and strength in times of both joy and sorrow.
Preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Emilia (Elisii) Petrongolo, her husband Richard Cummings and her sister Cecilia (Petrongolo) Caroluzzi.
Angelina is survived by her devoted children Richard Cummings (Denise), Kathleen Doherty (James), and Lisa House (Gregory). She also leaves behind her loving nieces Barbara Hook (Ronald) and Susan Brady Bagosy (Mark), her beloved grandchildren, Tara Osterholt, James Doherty, Kerry Cummings, Colleen Hafich, Shannon Cummings, Brian Doherty, Kellie Cummings, Kristin Hixson, Angelina LeMaire, Gregory House, Joshua House, Benjamin House, and Maximillian House, as well as 18 great-grandchildren who were the joy of her later years.
Angelina will forever be remembered as a remarkable woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her caring nature, strong faith, and dedication to her family will serve as an inspiration for generations to come. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary soul, we find solace in the knowledge that her memory will forever remain etched in our hearts, and her spirit will continue to guide and watch over us.
