Translation: peace in body, peace in mind, peace in spirit
Angela “Angie” Holly Sands, our treasured daughter, sister, auntie, partner, and friend, unexpectedly left this world on July 2, 2022 at the young age of 42. She was born on October 20, 1979 to Virginia “Ginny” Amundson and Jim Sands in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was raised by Dad Alan and Ginny Amundson and spent her childhood alongside her younger sister, Tammy, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, teen years in Misawa AFB, Japan, graduated high school in Mountain Home, Idaho, and attended college at the College of Western Idaho, making the Dean’s List. She has resided in Boise, Idaho her entire adult life.
She was a kind, silly, intelligent, and vibrant soul with the most beautiful smile and joyful laugh. She loved making collages as a reflection of herself and her life with a keen eye for detail and appreciation for the art she included. She also had a curious nature and delved into books about insects, forensics, and psychology. She enjoyed the sunshine, and we would often refer to her as “Cleopatra” as she lounged in a chair at family events soaking up the sun and finding joy in the moment. She loved her family more than anything and eagerly participated in family events and especially enjoyed being an auntie. Her mom was her best friend, and Ginny provided boundless support and acceptance throughout the years. Angie was a LGBTQ+ advocate and supported equal rights for all. She was also a friend to all animals, and especially loved cats, cicadas, and praying mantises.
Though Angie suffered from many physical ailments and battled with depression and anxiety, she often put others first and displayed an immense amount of courage in the face of these challenges. Thank you to the team of doctors who provided care for Angie over the years: Dr. Silva, Dr. Ming, Dr. Guy, Dr. Lawinski, Dr. Phail, and many others that have helped along the way.
Angie was preceded in death by her Dad Alan and grandparents. She leaves behind her mom, Ginny Amundson, sister, Tammy Jenkins, brother-in-law, David Jenkins, niece and nephew, Ariel and Dylan, and partner, Kayleigh Knudsen, in Idaho. In addition, she leaves behind her dad, Jim Sands, stepmom, Bert Sands, sister, Jackie Sands, brother, James Sands, and nieces and nephews, Xander, Rexy, James, and Esme, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins in Iowa. Angie had many special friends over the years as well that will surely miss her energetic presence. She had a loving nature that could never easily move on after relationships ended and maintained communication with the majority of her exes.
She leaves us with a hole in our hearts, but we know her spirit lives on through our memories of her and in the love we all feel for her. She is with us always. We love you, Ang.
