Angela Nutt Collins, 52 of Nampa, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Angie was born July 6, 1963 in Nampa, Idaho, to Gordon and Karen Van Matre Nutt. She was raised and educated in Nampa with her younger brother, Kenny. Her childhood was spent with her cousins, Mike and Lisa, the four of them as close as siblings. Her Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Benny were like her other parents who rarely went on a camping trip or family vacation without taking all four kids. She attended Roosevelt Elementary, West Junior High and Nampa High School. Growing up, Angie made friends with her neighbors, Colleen Phelps, Loretta Ramsey and Vickie Simmons, who are still dear friends to this day; and as an adult, Angie continued to make lifelong friendships with her neighbors where ever she lived.

Angie married Rick Smith of Boise and together they had a son, Ricky. They later divorced. She married Rick Vargason and to this union was born two sons, Chaz and Dakota. This marriage later ended in divorce and Angie moved to Texas.

While living in San Antonio, Angie met the love of her life, Dennis Ray Collins and they spent the next 25 years hand in hand. He took her home to Shreveport, Lousiana, to meet his family and later to Memphis, Tennessee. They had two children, Savannah and Dennis Ray, Jr. (DJ).  Angie and Dennis moved to Jackson, Mississippi, and lived there for a period of time. Following the death of Angie’s father, they moved to Idaho to be near her family.

In July of 2014 Angie was diagnosed with colon cancer, the same disease that took her father, his mother and his grandmother. She became a cancer warrior, refusing to accept this fate, but chose to battle her cancer with courage and strength. When she was near her end, Angie accepted it with the dignity and quiet grace that we all loved and admired in her. Dennis held her in his arms as she went home to God … at peace.

Angie is survived by her husband, Dennis Collins of Nampa and their children, Savannah Collins of Dallas, TX, and DJ Collins of Nampa; her sons, Chaz (Jeana) Vargason of IN and Koda Vargason of Boise; her step-daughters, Evelyn Bradford of Houston, TX,  Lisa Bradford of Dallas, TX and Kendra (Adrian) Allen of Shreveport, LA; her brother, Ken (Amy) Nutt; two aunts, Evelyn Canterbury of Nampa and Lavonne (Don) Benson of Boise; her cousins, Lisa (Al) Kerrick of Caldwell, Mike Canterbury of Nampa, Bruce (Janet) Hunter of Butte, MT, Clark (Vickie) Hunter of Caldwell, Michelle (Jim) Garbade of Idaho City, Tony (Nicole) Benson of Boise, and Dale Benson of Phoenix, AZ; her mother-in-law, Annie M.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky L. Smith, Jr.; her parents, Gordon and Karen Nutt; her aunt, LaVerna Van Matre Hunter; her uncle, Benny Canterbury; and her grandparents.
