Angela D. Zazzara, 101, died on Sunday May 27, 2012 at her home. Born and raised in Newark, NJ she moved to Toms River 42 years ago. In 1927 she graduated from Barringer High School, in 1931 graduated from Upsala College in East Orange, NJ worked as a teacher for Newark Central High School and retired in 1971 after 40 years of teaching.
She was a member of the Retired Educators Association, Holiday City Civic Committee, Senior Advisor Council Ocean County Board of Social Services, founder and past president of the Women’s Club of Holiday City. In 1986, Governor Kean gave her the Outstanding Citizen Award. She is predeceased by her husband Camillus A. Zazzara in 2003. Surviving are her son John and wife Mary Ann Zazzara, one grandson Michael and wife Angel and one great grandson Cole.
