PERSHING- Andy L. “Pete” Pitcher, 88, passed away on Friday afternoon March 5, 2010 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. He had been in failing health since October of 2009. A son of the late John and Anna (Goodwin) Pitcher, Pete was born in Richmond, Indiana on December 23, 1921. He grew up in the Cambridge City area and had lived in Centerville following World War II before moving to Pershing in 1975. Pete was a member of the United States Army and served his country with honor during World War II and was always amazed by the Panama Canal which he passed through on his way to the Pacific Theater. He worked for Sweet’s Construction and was owner / operator of Pitcher Auto Parts in Pershing from 1964 until his retirement in 1989.
