Andrew Lavin, 84 of Lavallette, NJ died on Friday August 5, 2011 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ. Born in New York City, NY he lived in Bergenfield, NJ then moved to Lavallette in 1998 after spending many summers there. He graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY with a degree in Business.

He served in the US Army during WWII. Andrew worked for Schaefer Brewing Company in Sales in Brooklyn, NY for 31 years retiring in 1982. Later he worked for Kohler Distributors in Hawthorne, NJ. He was a former parishioner of Ascension RC Church, New Milford, NJ where he taught AD ALTARE DEI for Boy Scout Troop #291 for over 20 years. He was the recipient of several Scouting awards including the Bronze Pelican, St. George, and Silver Beaver. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Teaneck, NJ and a member of the Elks and the VFW in Bergenfield, NJ.

He was a parishioner of St. Pio of Pietrelcina in Lavallette, NJ, where he was a member of their Holy Name Society and a Funeral Usher. He was also a member of the Lavallette Seniors. Predeceased by his son James and his brother John.

Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years Margaret ( Peggy O’Rourke), two sons Andrew F. of Paramus, NJ, and Thomas of Waldwick, NJ, three daughters Margaret Anne Lavin of Houston, TX, Mary Ellen Lavin of Paramus, NJ, and Jennifer Lavin of Park Ridge, NJ, two brothers Michael (Jim) of Long Island, NY and Thomas of West Nyack, NY, one sister, Sister Eileen Lavin of Astoria, NY and eight Grandchildren.
